Jamie’s work is her attempt at making sense of life, earth, and her brain. It slows her mind down and invites others to also slow down; to pause, breathe, and feel. Her artmaking bleeds into everyday life and everyday life is a foundation that cradles her artmaking. She is inspired by plants, rock formations, trash, and thrift store finds. Along the way she collects bits and bobs that spark creativity in her and these guide Jamie as she makes.
Making pottery is a tradition of beauty and sincerity. Taking the time to both create and use a handmade vessel teaches us to live life a little bit slower. I hope to pass along love, warmth, and care when someone holds one of my pieces. I also hope to carve out a moment of stillness for the user - a moment to find quietness and perhaps contentment as they live with pottery that has been carefully handcrafted.
